Vibe’s Greatest Producer of All-Time Bracket

If your NCAA men’s bracket didn’t quite turn out how you expected, here is you chance to redeem yourself with Vibe’s “Greatest Producer of All-Time” bracket.  The picks are seeded and broken up into 4 different sections; homegrown sound (Dr. Dre, Mannie Fresh), soul sample (Kanye West, Just Blaze) , mass appeal (Neptunes, Timbaland), and boom-bap (DJ Premier, RZA).

Like Vibe’s “Best Rapper Alive” bracket, this one has already started some controversy.  Producer Bangladesh, the man behind “A Milli”, has already stated he is the best.  Don’t be surprised when some Joe Budden vs Method Man type drama arises as a result of this.

Magazines these days are so obsolete they are seriously trying to do ANYTHING to keep their names relevant. For real, a producer bracket? Half the people voting won’t even know what they’re looking for. Dilla as a 6 seed… I rest my case.

I agree. its a pretty pointless thing to do and is just another thing vibe is doing to get their name is peoples mouth.

    guess it worked.

I can’t lie I just went through the entire bracket and voted (but I hate myself for it)

i hear you on that dizzy derrp. went through and listened to a good number of the beats. though the ‘bracket’ idea is pretty trite, i like that they are presenting these producers in an appealing way. the little rundowns on each of the artists are pretty cool for the lesser known guys. its also interesting what beats they use to give a general feel for the producers work. and every now and them i see something i hadn’t known.. the guys that produced for Pun also did ‘jenny from the block’? hm.

Yo, god. No way Toomp should be matching up with Dre first round. All said and done, he might be up there for most underrated. Other matchups that worried me…until I voted. Higher seeds prevailed.
    Prince Paul vs. Shock G
    Kanye West vs. The Heatmakerz
    Organized Noize vs. 9th Wonder

@Dizzy…I hate myself for voting too.

@Ace Boogie yeahdog. Havoc vs. Da Beatminerz is egregious. And even though I love him, how did Mannie Fresh grab a 2 seed? It’s higher than Just Blaze, No ID, Dilla, Erick Sermon, Prince Paul…

@Dizzy True. Maybe ’cause Mannie Fresh singlehandedly kept Cash Money relevant enabling the label to become what it is now? Baffling.
