“Polo socks match my Polo hat.” Seeing as almost every rapper rocks a Polo get up in at least one of their videos or photo shoots, I thought it only right to get the low down on the hottest Polo gear from someone who has been wearing Polo since before some of these rappers were even born: Lo-Life founding member Thirstin Howl The 3rd. If you’re a Lifestyler, sit back and reminisce with Thirstin as he lists his favorite badges and pieces. If you’re not, get educated by the Lo-Life general who made it okay for your favorite rapper to rock Polo (or any other high-end brand, for that matter).

1) The Cross Flag – 88 Edition
Thirstin: The Cross Flag was hot even before Lo-Lifes was formed, and it was hot when we first did it for Lo-Lifes. It was everything, too: the socks, the visors, the hats, the knitteds, the shorts. Everything.

2) The Crown
Thirstin: The big crown shirt is one of those shirts that kinda makes everybody shut the fuck up. It’s like, “I’m here.”

3) The Big Pony
Thirstin: Even back in the days, every time Ralph Lauren made the logo he always made the exaggerated, big version.

Before it came out, we used to make jokes like, ‘Yo, I saw a big horse today!” We was just bullshittin’ with each other. The big horse was in our imagination. Then he actually came out with the big pony shits.

Right now, it’s the most common piece.

4) Suicide Logo (Sui)
Thirstin: Suicide Goons. The big sui sweater. RL put out a lot of clothes that had the logo of the man skiing down the hill. I always loved the sui shit.

5) Script/Scribble
Thirstin: Some people call it the scribble, we call it the script. In ’89, the big script shirt, with the logo in middle of the shirt, was the summer. Had to have the short sleeve jump off, and the hats to go with it.

Thirstin’s #1 Polo Item: Silver Teddy Bear Piggy Bank
Thirstin: I’m real big into accessories; I collect the accessories. The most flaming piece gotta be the teddy bear piggy bank. It’s a piggy bank, but it’s a silver bear and it looks platinum. There were tons of them shits when t got it. but even to this day I ain’t never seen nobody else with it.
