Passalacqua – Zebehazy Summer (Album)

The debut album from the inimitable Detroit Rapraprapraprap duo, Passalacqua, just touched down in or around the internet. The project, entirely produced by fellow Murder Mittener, DJ Erno The Inferno, chronicles the fleeting dog days of Summer set to a harmonious blend of funky, laid back, and lyric driven elements. Blaksmith showcases the flavor we’ve grown to respect from him, during his work as 1/4 of Cold Men Young, while sturring a taste of honey in the pot from these palm tree inspired soundbeds. Add Mister’s signature meter and velvety style and voila!… here you have Zebehazy Summer. A perfect mid-July afternoon. In CD quality or better. A different sound from their earlier released self-titled EP, this one is a little more floating through the Disco equipped with a brimming chalice of Ripple-like substances.

Black Milk & Danny Brown “Zap”

Ever since gracing Album Of The Year’s aptly titled “Black and Brown”, the demand for more Black Milk x Danny Brown material has sky-rocketed. Their styles seemed to intersect perfectly with Black’s crispiest gritty drum patterns you ever did hear and Brown’s ignorantly thought provoking rhymes. Following the announcement the two Detroit heavyweights would be dropping an entire collaborative EP, Black and Brown, Black Milk lets off Track 4 from the project entitled “Zap”. The project is slated for a release November 1st on Fat Beats Records. Here Danny, The rap Frank Zappa, gives us a taste of illy things to come.

Greenlee Planet Neptune Series: “No iPhone”

The second of this week’s Planet Neptune series leaks,”No iPhone”, has sprung moments ago. Greenlee apparently decided to speak on some frustrations he was going through with another local emcee. Both songs released in the series this week were presented in segments, beats intently chosen to complement the personality of the rhyme. Transitions between each backdrop serve more for the feel of the anticipation. It’s good to be excited to hear what’s the next word of every line coming from an artist. Check out “No iPhone” and also the addition of this week in the Planet Neptune line “3 And Out”.

Greenlee Planet Neptune Series: “Text You Back Pt. 2″

Another addition to the leak series from the homie Greenlee just hit the interwebs and is picking up steam. This one is a continuation to the the story from Pt. 1 of “Text You Back” off Green Monster. He takes his updated perspective, matches it with corresponding Neptunes instrumental and styles out on it. Any Philly’s Most Wanted fans out there will appreciate where he’s going with this one. A proverbial slam dunk in the line. If by chance you didn’t get to check out the first joint he liberated this week, you can grab that by clicking here.

Greenlee Planet Neptune Series: “Evergreen & Pembroke”

Greenlee let loose the second installment in the Planet Neptune series in the wee hours of the morning. This is his take on the “Vado” instrumental in which he calls “Evergreen & Pembroke”, an allusion to his former stomping grounds. He brings out his more braggadocious side on this one and carries a pretty comical Clueless reference a bar or three for good measure. A refreshing break from your standard issue metaphorical concepts. The emcee also just minutes ago confirmed via his Twitter account that Greenfield Radio is essentially in the can.

Red Pill – Don’t Turn Around [prod. Nameless] (Video + Audio)

While we are patiently waiting for The Kick, Red Pill‘s highly anticipated collaboration album with producer Hir-O, out of the sky falls the visual for this positively diabolical track. With both notching highly impressive debut releases, The Voyage Home and Please Tip Your Driver, the whole Midwest is chomping at the bit to see what happens when Optimus squares off with Megatron for a full length LP. This project is for those of you who are movie-goers (Inception) and feel like Hip Hop is lulling you into a despondent dreamphase with mediocrity and parity (Viacom). This is what you’ve been wishing on a star for. #IronSharpensIron

Danny Brown – XXX (Album)

The Detroit native drops off his debut with Fool’s Gold in true explicit fashion. His first full-length project since 2010′s instant hit, The Hybrid, it really focuses in on his “I can’t believe dude just said that” style. As a solid debut should, Danny goes light on the features. All tape long, he gives us silly street reference after shimmering simile after out of his mind slow-burner. With outstanding production from the likes of Frank Dukes, DJ Houseshoes, Nick Speed, Paul White, Quelle, Brandun Deshay, Skywlkr, and Squadda Bambino he fills out the project with razor sharp anecdotes and the highest quality of misogyny, as only he can. Check out a few highlights from the album below and hit the skip for the full tracklist + free download.
